Swiss Precision, German Diligence and a Kiwi Can-Do Attitude
The project’s successful take-off and roll-out would not have been possible without an ideally complementary set of personalities:
Sue and Bernard Burger, my Tauranga-based “angels”, who not only took me under their wings but also made it clear to all involved that the absence of the customer does not mean an absence of keen eyes to watch over the building progress. Bernard, a retired IT specialist, also deserves credit for creating this website and updating it with pictures.

Bruce Matthews, sales consultant of G.J. Gardner Homes, who really went the extra mile to make it all happen. Unlike most sales people who are primarily concerned with getting the client to sign on the dotted line and not much else, he listened, understood my often unusual requirements, and certainly put in a lot of extra time to communicate with me – mostly online.

And me, the customer, who knew what I wanted and who was quick to make decisions. A “yes-or-no person”, as Bruce once put it. Or “a fussy lady”, at least by Kiwi standards, as Bernard saw it. Definitely a customer whose obsession with detail, especially when it comes to insulation and windows with a thermally acceptable performance, will long be remembered.
